Hamlet, NC (January 26, 2025) - According to local news reports, a high-speed chase across two counties ended in a dramatic crash on Hamlet Avenue early Sunday morning, leaving multiple people injured and leading to significant charges against the driver.
The incident began at approximately 3:00 a.m. when an officer with the Laurinburg Police Department attempted a routine traffic stop on U.S. 401. The suspect, identified as Caleb Javor Ingram, 25, from Hamlet, initially pulled into a Speedway gas station on East Church Street. However, events took a turn when a woman in the vehicle reportedly screamed that she was being kidnapped. Ignoring police commands, Ingram sped west onto U.S. 74, reaching speeds exceeding 100 mph.
The pursuit continued through Laurel Hill and into Hamlet, where Ingram’s vehicle went airborne after crossing railroad tracks on Hamlet Avenue. The vehicle struck a building and a parked car before rolling over and coming to rest on the sidewalk. Ingram was ejected from the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was detained after officers deployed a taser. He was later airlifted to a trauma center for treatment and is currently in stable condition.
Ingram faces numerous charges, including felony fleeing to elude arrest, felonious restraint, and multiple traffic violations. Authorities also revealed that he was wanted for several outstanding warrants in Moore County. His passenger, identified as 21-year-old Faith Lynette Kiara Walker of Rockingham, sustained minor injuries and told police that Ingram had refused to let her leave the vehicle. Two pedestrians were also injured in the crash and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is assisting in the ongoing investigation.
