Jacksonville, NC (October 17, 2024) - According to local news reports, a tragic motorcycle accident occurred in Jacksonville on Thursday evening, October 17, 2024. The Jacksonville Police Department responded to a collision between a 2008 Buell motorcycle and a Toyota Highlander at approximately 7:32 p.m. The crash took place at the intersection of Gum Branch Road and White Oak Street.
Authorities reported that Donovan Holliday, a 24-year-old motorcyclist from Jacksonville, was riding southeast on Gum Branch Road when the front of his motorcycle struck the right rear passenger door of the Toyota Highlander. The SUV had been attempting a left turn onto White Oak Street from the center lane when the collision occurred.
Holliday sustained critical injuries in the accident and was immediately transported to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune. Tragically, despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the hospital due to the severity of his injuries. Jacksonville Police confirmed that the next of kin had been notified.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing.
